The Peruvian state has been making a major effort since 2012 to strengthen institutions for promoting democratic
dialogue as a mechanism for the prevention and management of conflicts over the use of natural resources. In
this scenario, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in coordination with the Presidency of the
Council of Ministers and the support of the Government of Canada, has been implementing the “Partnerships
for Dialogue Project: Prevention of Social Conflicts in the Use of Natural Resources” with a view toward
strengthening both democratic and natural resource governance.
